Today I’m grateful for sports. More specifically playing sports. I enjoy playing all sports for that matter. Be it soccer, basketball, baseball, hockey, badminton, table tennis, football and so on. Maybe you can say I enjoy “playing”. Tonight was another Over 35 Men’s soccer game in Markham, and though I knew we were going to lose to the first place team, and we did horribly, it wasn’t a deterrent to go out tonight, get a workout and play.
Yeah we got spanked 8-1. We had our scoring chances and didn’t capitalize. Ironically, the most unlikely goal was scored by me on a header. Go figure, we couldn’t score with our feet 🙂
Afterwards we “reflected” 🙂 on our play, or more likely men’s catharsis. 😉 The beauty is that we go home, forget everything and carry on with our lives. But, the goal will stay in my head. After all, I’m in a competition with my kids. Who would score the most goals this season. Yes, Dad’s the winner 🙂
I’m grateful for the ability to play, have the health to do so, and I’m hopeful this play will never end until my death bed. A more personal story on the power of sports was previously shared in my 40 in 40 years blogs.
If you aren’t playing, I hope you will find away to do so and tap into the kinetic energy that makes us feel more alive. Even if it is riding a bike, taking a brisk walk in the park, snow boarding, skating, playing catch with your kid, shooting free throws, gardening, etc.
God bless, cheers, Jas
